Regular Tattoo Aftercare (No Saniderm)

  • After your session- the artist will bandage and wrap your tattoo up with saran wrap, which you can leave on for up to 2 hours. Although- its best to take it off right when you get home!

  1. When you take the saran wrap off, wash it first with non scented soap, rinse and then pat dry with a paper towel. Leave the tattoo out for 2 minutes- then apply a thin layer of non scented lotion to the tattoo.

  2. Your routine will now be to wash your new tattoo 2-3 times a day for the next 3 days. Using a non scented soap, like Dove, followed by a non scented moisturizer. Please only use a thin layer over your tattoo and avoid over moisturizing!

  3. On the 2-3rd day- your tattoo will begin to get itchy, dry and flaky. At that stage- you can now change up your routine to wash just once a day with the same nonscented soap and a thin layer of white nonscented lotion. While its itchy, try not to touch- itch or pick at the tattoo. It may look a little different throughout the healing process then it will once its fully healed down too. So be patient and diligent with your routine and keeping it clean!

You are prohibited from working out for 72 HOURS. This is crucial and doing so can cause infection at the docile end and staph and MERCA on the worst. Please avoid excessive sweating and activities that would cause you to overheat. Your at the highest risk of infection those first couple days with heat being a trigger for bacteria growth,

DO NOT GO INTO SUN OR WATER FOR AT LEAST 4 WEEKS

Avoidance of this guidance will cause your tattoo to become infected, ink fallout and not have a good heal. Sun poisonings is also possible and very dangerous. You CANNOT wear sunscreen due to this, it is not safe for a healing tattoo. Please plan activities accordingly.

Failure to comply with aftercare instructions does not count as a free touch up and the artist will have the charge to redo any fallout

If the lines on your tattoo become raised, cracked, or milky during healing- you have overmoistirized your tattoo and you will need to dry it out more. Please let us know if you have any issues. Do not use any fragrence, incluing perfume oil, essential oils, itch cream ect.

Please look out for risk of infection as a tattoo is an open wound and must be treated with care and also monitored by client that its heaing correctly! Reach out to a doctor or medical professional if you have any signs of infection which is always a risk with obtaining a tattoo and follow all aftercare instructions for the best tattoo possible!

It will take about 4 to sometimes 8 weeks to fully heal depending on your aftercare.

Please do your best to take care of your body and investment by tending to strict aftercare routine and accessing the hydration in your skin.

2.

Saniderm aftercare:

Your artist will provide and apply Saniderm at the end of your tattoo session. It is a clear adhesive bandage that promotes healing and protects the tattoo in its most fragile state from infection and outside contaminants!

Please keep it on for 2-4 days depending on size, location and what your artist recommends.

While wearing the Sandierm please monitor it and remove ASAP if:

  • if it looks like something has gotten into the bandage (water, sweat, rain ect)

  • if anything is coming OUT of the derm (ink, plasma ect)

  • if the bandage has rolled off and revealed parts of the tattoo. Or has rolled off enough to make it easy for water or something to get in

Saniderm should ONLY come off in a clean location like a personal shower, or sink.

Removal

1. Start by warming up the Saniderm under running water to loosen the adhesive.  Try not to start taking off the derm right away, and give it a couple minutes to soak.

2. Find the edge and slowly start pulling the bandage off, avoid pulling it upwards. Take your time with this. Keep adding water to help the process along.

3. Once the bandage is removed, clean with a non-scented soap and pat dry with a paper towel. Its going to feel very dry once it first comes out.  Apply a thin layer of non scented moisturizer. From there- you can wash the tattoo once a day and apply lotion only when the tattoo feels dry/itchy. Continue doing this for the next 2-3 weeks.

Remove ASAP and clean thoroughly. Continue to take care of tattoo per instructions at top of page.

You are prohibited from working out for 72 HOURS AND NEVER work out while wearing the Saniderm. Please avoid excessive sweating and activities that would cause you to overheat- plan accordingly. Your at the highest risk of infection those first couple days with heat being a trigger for bacteria growth. This is crucial and failure to comply cause infection at the docile end and staph and MERCA on the worst. Please monitor for symptoms and reach out to doctor if you notice any signs of infection.

DO NOT GO INTO SUN OR WATER FOR AT LEAST 4 WEEKS and NEVER while wearing the Saniderm. Showering is fine as it is water resistant but NOT water proof.

Swimming is a huge infection risk and sun poisonings is also possible and very dangerous. Failure You CANNOT wear sunscreen due to this, it is not safe for a healing tattoo. Please plan activities accordingly.

Failure to comply with aftercare instructions can cause your tattoo to heal faded, patchy and even have ink fallout which would require the tattoo to be redone. This does not count as a free touch up, and the artist will have the charge to redo parts if not all of the new tattoo.

If you were given pieces to patch your Saniderm- IF a litle bit of an edge of the derm lifts and the tattoo is NOT exposed to the air: delicately trim edge with scissors and patch with a small piece of Saniderm to put the edge back down. Avoid water for the next couple hours. If any little bit of the tattoo does become exposed due to the edges rolling, OR if blood/plasma leaked out of the bandage, please remove ASAP.

DO NOT wear the saniderm for more then 5 days.

ATTENTION:

Saniderm contains adhesive that may cause an allergic reaction to those who have adhesive allergies. If a reaction occurs, take the bandage off immediatly. If severe, contact a doctor and do not use again for further tattoo appointments.

Your tattoo is a open wound- and its critical to monitor your healing progress and be diligent to avoid infection. There is always a risk of infection when obtaining a tattoo and being ontop of the aftercare helps clients be in control of their healing!!

Reach out to your artist if you have any questions or concerns while healing and we'd be happy to help!
